I have this type of visa and (apart from when the border was closed) I have been using the consulate in Savannakhet since 2015.

, the money loaned is yet to be recovered so there may be more to this than just seasoning time. Seasoning time would start when the loan is repaid and deposited.

It is also possible to get a one year multi- entry non-O visa for 5000 baht. With this visa you would have to leave the country every 90 days. Depending on where you live that may mean a simple border bounce. Although valid for one year you can re- enter Thailand on the last day of validity and get stamped in for another 90 days. So, you could get an almost 15 month stay in Thailand. No financial information needs to be provided for this visa at Savannakhet. Apply one day and receive your visa on the next business day. It is, therefore, important to check for both Thai and Laos public holidays as the consulate will be closed for both. Application for this visa is very easy.

if he had an English passport, as he claims, then there is no correct answer.
Stephen *******
@James *******
that can not be so because an English passport does not exist.

@James *******

I recently went to Savannakhet, the first time in three years, due to Covid. The requirements are still the same as in pre-Covid days and application is so simple. Providing your paperwork meets requirements there is no discussion, they issue a numbered receipt and you pick up your passport the following day. In Savannakhet they are very quick and efficient.

Also, with the visa obtained in Laos, if you re-enter Thailand just before the validity of the visa expires you will be granted a further 90-day permission to stay which can be extended at your local immigration office. I found that the extension obtained at my local immigration office required more paperwork than the visa obtained in Savannakhet. The visa obtained in Savannakhet can be stretched to 17 months before renewal is required.
