So our lease was up in October of 2024 . And our landlord said they'd do month to month for us . But that fell through I was also pregnant . And we didn't want to wait until baby was old enough to fly comfortably . On top of switching doctors . My older daughter also has mental health issues so we also didn't want her to continue seeing a specific doctor in Vegas . So we flew here end of December . Stayed in a hotel bnb for 2 weeks .
We contacted global travel mate (you tuber ) he got us in contact with sukhimivit homes out here in Bangkok we found an apartment . We are renting now .
We were planning on the DTV spouse and children . Bit we're turned away from that option as it's extremely expensive . I know people say all surrounding countries are different . But we've reached do it to them and they have responded with each individual no matter the age needs to have 500k baht . We met a gentleman that said a business visa would probably work out better for us . My husband is an engineer so we're looking at a few other options . Going to speak with a lawyer and a agent who were recommended by the same people who helped us with our apartment .
You may get lucky but just depends on what type of dtv visa you are applying for . And how many people are in you family .
We're a family of 5 we were told we needed $75,000 usd to apply for the dtv . Best of luck
Anonymous participant 319 maybe not misinformation . But we were under the impression that we only needed 500k baht . But in reality every individual needs 500k baht . We were told the dtv wouldn't be a smart choice for our family .
Even tho there's a ton of people in this group saying that they only needed one person with 500k baht .
But no where on any websites does it state we all need 500k baht .
For my family that's $75,000 usd 😵💫
We didn't think it was true so we asked a few agents and it's 100% true .
it's not complicated to us . What would be complicated is getting stuck in another lease and then having a newborn to travel with . Plus I was dealing with custody etc. it's been really smooth sailing honestly .
I didn't want to be trapped with another year lease back home . On top of I had a deadline on flying . I'm 8 months pregnant I'm 35 weeks now been here almost 2 weeks . I didn't want my baby born in the states and then moved to another country . On top of a newborn on a long flight oowee .
We just made sure we had enough money that if we needed to stay where we applied for the visa we would be okay .
So we can stay here 60 days . Then extend 30 more . I'm due February 5th or sooner . So in-between these visa exempt days . We are looking for places already have a few were looking at next week ( working with a dude that does alot of YouTube videos out here and he has some people who are helping us look at places .) on top of they help with DTV not sure how yet but it was mentioned . Once baby is born we get birth certificate and passport for her . Then file under the DTV spouse and dependents .
Even when we came through immigration we told them were having our baby in Bangkok and looking for an home . Once we get established were getting dtv . They stamped all our passports . And didn't even ask for our plane ticket out of Thailand even tho we bought them .
