Anonymous participant 850 they are suspending lots of accounts for retirement visa holders.

Not all of them can get their accounts unsuspended easily.

Lots of new hoops to jump through thanks to AML rules

The bank thing is a pain, but still doable.

Anyway the banks are closing or suspending foreigners accounts left right and center.

I didn’t post this on the tax perspective, but more on the renewal process. ie easier to leave and come back rather than renew at immigration. Anyone in an official position I ask says dtv is just a posh tourist visa. So does a tourist have to pay tax???

It is very difficult to open a Thai bank account with a dtv visa.

The banks say it is a tourist visa and people on tourist visas can’t open bank accounts.

I was told by banks that the only way they can open one for me is if I own property, or am shareholder in a company 😬

How much can I expect to pay for electricity and water in a small condo in Thailand, particularly when using air conditioning?

The price of electricity matters a lot.

If it is direct from pea then it’s just over 4 baht per kw.

If you are renting the landlord may charge you 6, 8 baht or even more.

You need your electricity price in writing, and pictures of the electric meter.
