Yes.. Everyone does. Officially the landlord or hotel should do it a'd can do it online. You will need it for your visa process and 90 day report.

Assuming you are eligible for 60 fay exempt and 30 day extension? Then you should be fine with that. Nothing what you've done should effect that? If you had done previous extension or back to back stays.. Then you could potentially have trouble.

Play safe and get a tourist visa, but personally I think your fine.
