@Tod ********
Being totally honest I hadn’t even considered that as an option, but it’s good to know so thank you for that update. 🙏🏼 Personally I don’t want to ask permission to post in my own thread, but this could be very useful information to others.

I was mostly just trying to provide constructive criticism’s to things some people notice or have commented on in the past. As I stated above, I think I understand why you lock threads, but there are far more threads locked here than in any other group. Even within the Thailand space. So I was just trying to give you some reasons as to why some people might have reacted the way they had in the past was all.

Overall I think this is a great community and you do a great job moderating it! Your original post seemed very heart felt and very honest, so I’m just trying to return the favor. I hope you decide to stay on as a mod. The community would be sad to see you go.

Hey
@Tod ********
, I am very big on constructive criticism is how we grow and get better. It’s great to see everyone praising you for the great job you have done! You have even helped me personally on several occasions and I am very grateful! 🙏🏼 But I think it could be helpful to point out a few things I have noticed over the years for you to possibly take into consideration.

- Sometimes your posts can be so direct that it comes off a little bit “high horse”. Like I know more than you, thus I’m better than you. I think some of that is due to the fact that we are a very diverse multicultural group. So we are all used to talking to each other differently. I can at least understand why some people might feel slightly insulted by some of the directness. Me personally I think it just comes from the fact that you are forced to answer a lot of the same questions over and over and over again. That would wear anyone down! But I don’t think new members are going to understand that.

- Sometimes the thread locking can seem a bit aggressive and uncalled for. I understand most of the time it’s because you don’t want misinformation in a thread AFTER a clear answer has been given. But sometimes there are more examples of experiences within the community that could prove useful. I personally had one locked years ago before a trip to immigration. I tried to come back to it after my trip to update my real would experience and I couldn’t. Some of the best info I’ve gotten on here was community members sharing direct experiences. So when so many threads get locked, sometimes it comes off as “Tod has spoken, so nobody else needs to talk.” Or a little bit like a power trip of some kind. Again, I think I understand the reasons it’s done, I’m just saying I also somewhat understand the occasional frustration about it. I’ve seen it discussed in other groups even. It takes away from the community aspect of it I think.

All that being said I voted yes stay obviously. 😇 You’re a great wealth of Thailand knowledge and your willingness to take time out of your life, and it’s a lot of time, to share with us makes our lives easier and much better. I am sorry that someone is going to the extreme they are to give you problems! Calling the cops? 😬 It’s a Fb group, it’s not that serious!

Lastly let me personally thank you for the help you’ve given me, and for running the group. Sooo much information in here! I view your moderation here like the most over worked, under paid customer service job! You’re doing a great job and the community obviously appreciates you. Best wishes man! 🙏🏼

Hopefully they will just announce another 60 day program extension just before you go. We are hearing reports otherwise, but things change here so fast that anything is possible. If they do then you can go like October 10th and not lose any days at all.
Eric ************
@Donnie ******
that is correct, your 30 day extension is continued from the end of your visa. Switching to 60 day covid extensions is basically like switching to a new visa for lack of better words. Just that first 60 day you can lose days. After that 60 days continue off of each other. That’s why I was saying I’d wait until probably the 24th (Friday) to go do it. The 27th is a Monday so it could be done that day too, but it’s pretty close to call imo.

@Donnie ******
If you already did a 30 day extension, I don’t believe you can do another. I think you would require the 60 day covid extension at this point if I am reading this correctly? That being said, your first covid extension chops off whatever is left on your 30 day. Like a new start. If you already have a 60 day and go early, it just continues from the end of the one before it. If it were me in that position, I would go a few days before the 27th and try to get a 60 day. But you will loose roughly 2 weeks off of your 30 day. And there is no guarantee they will do it. I did my 30 to 60 day transition like 2 days early. But it can’t hurt to ask them. Good luck

Ok everyone, I just finished at Jomtien immigration and I have some answers. Yes they “approved it” (under consideration stamp), but it didn’t feel standard. I’ll explain. So I went in right at 8:30 when they opened. The gentleman at the counter looked at my current visa extension stamp and said “it doesn’t expire until October 12”. I explained that bkk issued a message saying you could apply up to 45 days early. I also showed him the image below that I grabbed here or on Thai visa. He looked at it a brief moment then let me through. I’d say he seemed hesitant but ok with it. I was going to explain the current covid extension program might not be renewed but it never came to that. The rest of the process was fairly standard. Filled out the forms, made my copies, gave them all that plus my photo and they gave me a number. When my number was called I sat right down. No wait. They reviewed it quickly, I paid 1900 and was asked to have a seat. 5 minutes later they called me back up and showed me my under consideration stamp and asked me to return on 12 October my current expiration date for my new 60 day stamp. My advice is to go early, be super polite and have your documents in order. Hopefully this information is helpful and the fact that I did it means it’s less new for the next people that go and try. Again, at first he seemed hesitant, but after my brief explanation they were great as always. Good luck everyone! 🙏🏼🙇🏻‍♂️

@James *******
Thank you. I really have these helpful groups to thank for helping me! I’ll drop my experience below.

Yea no harm in checking! While it is a fairly streamlined system, we do hear reports of different regional offices handling things in different ways. As
@Benjamin *****
stated, in the end it is our responsibility to check it over once they are finished. So happy we have these groups to discuss these things. 🙇🏻‍♂️

This appears to be the 60 day covid extension. Depending on how long you plan on remaining in the kingdom, you may want to go back and talk to them. If you KNOW you are leaving before 10OCT2021 then it’s fine. But if you plan on trying to stay longer, the current 60 day extension window closes at the end of September as of now. It is highly possible with the current situation that they will renew it around September 28th as that’s when they typically announce them. Had you gotten the standard 30 day today, it would expire mid September. Then you could apply for an additional 60 days possibly carrying you out until mid November. Reading on here it seems like different offices handle things differently. My office here did 30 days, then I got a 60 day today as that expired. Good luck 🙏🏼
