I don't get it..which part of the documentation would someone not have when boarding the domestic leg of an International flight but then have ready for the international portion?
You can rent fully furnished 3 bedroom homes in Chiang Mai now for less than 15,000 + electric + water + internet + motorbike = 20,000 baht.... Food can be 100 baht one day for fresh veg and chicken from the market or 600 baht the next for steak at a resto...2,000 USD is plenty if you're in Nakhon anywhere but you'll have to give a chunk to the girlfriend. 3000 is perfect with some travel and massage thrown in.
