Thailand’s becoming more and more of a rip off recently and it’s not going to be cheap to have fun here…

€1,000 os plenty to have a comfortable living life here…

If you want to be a tourist & enjoy activities and sightseeing… At least double it, especially if you’re eating out every meal and not cooking at home

I’d go with the latter because you’re bound to regret signing up beforehand for lessons and then getting here and finding a far better deal… less commercialised and more personal…

Thought I’d mention that the hoity toity bank staff have probably done a 3 hour PowerPoint course at an office migration office and this they’re qualified immigration officers now 🤣

I want to point out that this is a personal opinion from my experience just in case the trolls want to jump all in over my comment again 🙄

My golden rule of changing money has always been “wait until you’re there”

I.e. In your case use the local Thai bank exchange rate

This is just another typical bank scam from Bangkok Bank…

They want your money in their hand as soon as and for as long as possible for obvious reasons… %%%

They’re just doing their usual and being so greedy they scare off the customers who just go to other banks… 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s not impossible like some make out

They “think” the ball is in their court 🤣🤣🤣

We don’t need an exit visa to leave Thailand and it’s a much better deal in Vietnam & Cambodia right now that’s for sure!

You mentioned retirement so you’ll need a retirement visa and for a retirement visa you need a Thai bank account with 800,000฿.

It’s the people who try to live here on a tourist visa that the immigration get annoyed at…
