Canadian here. What's stopping you from applying for a DTV overseas in a 3rd country? Nothing! So if you find it too expensive, travel to a third country in SE Asia, and apply for it there and enjoy a vacation all at the same time.
If I am paying income tax to my home country (Canada) while living in Thailand, will i still be subject to double taxation? As I understand, only 1 country can tax my income.
Thanks for the response. As a long-term solution, If I enter Thailand on an METV, would it be possible to do border runs every 2 months and then get another METV every 6 months in the Thai consulate in Laos when it expires?
