You’ll be fine. I would book a cheap flight to some city in Vietnam or KL just in case. They’re pretty cheap

I know this is a DTV Visa group, but for anyone that’s still on an ED Visa, it’s still possible to open a bank account. Just go try small branches and go very early in the morning. I opened mine on April 30th and it’s still working just fine.

Managed to open it with only 2 months left on my 1 year visa.

Anonymous participant 262 I did this too for like 2 years. The problem is that I ended up paying like a ฿1,000 fee every time I paid rent, so having a thai bank acc has saved me plenty of money already

I have lived here for two years, I’ve never really needed a thai bank account.

The only thing I’m really missing out is not being able to use QR payment. But I just bring some cash with me and lots of places accept credit cards.

Do you know if there's a minimum income requirement aside from the 500.000baht in the bank account?

I certainly could with mine. I currently have a 0% commission fee for any international purchase. Not all banks do it though. I have 2 banks and the other one has never given me the option.

I don’t really need one, I pay everything with credit card and withdraw cash 1-2 times a month from an ATM. You just need to negotiate a good international commission % with your bank.

l’ve read you can easily open a bank account through an agent even with a DTV though
