are you really confusing a "visa" with a "stay permit"? You oughta know better

It's the same game when transferring stamps from an old passport to a new passport. Immigration can only transfer their own stamps. The cannot transfer a visa sticker. Immigration cannot "cancel a visa". All they can do is cancel your stay permit, or refuse an extension of the stay permit. Visa are NOT issued under Immigration jurisdiction, except when you are applying for the "change of visa type" which actually is a change of the reason a visa was issued (or not issued when changing from a visa-exempt entry)

Immigration is not allowed to "cancel a visa". All they can do is refuse entry, and for this, they are supposed to show you the "Section 12" list of rules they claim you are violating. Immigration can only cancel "extensions". i.e. stay permits they have issued themselves. Visa are being issued by Thai embassies, and Immigration can't "cancel" or "invalidate" them. An embassy is ministry of foreign affairs, but Immigration is ministry of interior. None of these two bodies is allowed to touch a stay permit or a visa issued by the other one. If a visa has been issued, it is a done deal

with a multi entry visa, you could wait until the last 60 days within 8 months, before you apply for the "change of visa type". With a single entry visa, you application needs to be more speedier, as you can only apply as long as you still have a minimum of 15 workdays left on your 60-days stay permit

so what category of Tourist Visa have you been issued? We still don't know, you have NEVER answered to this question, and i am not beating a dead horse. Do you have a single-entry TR visa, or do you have a multi-entry TR visa?

probably not, Mister "expert"😂 😂😂😂 such ridiculousness, it's downright laughable.

the problem is, that embassies are ministry of foreign affairs, but immigration is ministry of interior. As they do not communicate much with each other, and everone making up their own rules, this happens. I am only saying that the rule ALWAYS was that you cannot apply for a new visa anywhere outside of Thailand, if you still had a valid stay permit or a still valid visa. You just cannot hold TWO different Thai visa at the same time. What embassies are doing when allowing applicants to get a DTV issued while they are still on a valid stay permit that was issued on Immigration, is a severe breach of rules! And it remains to be seen how Immigration will handle this logistic problem in the future - it is too early to say, as not many people that were affected, did a new entry on a DTV yet.

many people here confuse a "1-year stay permit" wrongly with "a visa", so I won't put much weight into what they claim to know 😅 Tod Daniels is right, this anonymous participant is on an "extended stay permit based on ED", and not on a "multi entry ED visa"
