Brandon Thurkettle That's not entirely correct. It depends on bank and location. But there are branches that actually rejects US citizens because of the money laundering paranoia in the US and FATCA. They hate the paperwork.
It doesn't officially has to be only from a Thai insurance company. But it's very difficult to get the foreign insurance certificate stamped and signed.
You can get a Thai health insurance that will work outside Thailand, but those are normally a bit more expensive. If going for an insurance bought in the US for the O-A Longstay Visa,then it will be more problematic.You'll need a signed and stamped certificate specially designed for health insurances bought abroad for the O-A Visa,which most insurance companies refuses to sign.
