The same thing happened to me once when flying from Singapore to Thailand. The agent demanded to see my departure ticket from Thailand. Thank goodness, I had one.
Anonymous participant 779 Tell that to the immigration officer, when told to buy your return ticket. Did you read, the original post? Lord, people kill me with, this or that happened to or not to me. You are not all people! We also know some people have "inherent privilege" in this world. You are hiding your face, so we cannot tell if you are one of them
As you now things are changing. Just yesterday, it was announce that Thailand may be returning to only 30 days on entry for visa exempt passport holders. 🤦
As mentioned, it is ultimately left to the discretion of the officer. Also, I know from experiences that globally, some people are targeted more than others. I have watch lines of people go through a line with no questions asked, and then it is different for ME. I always dress neat and presentable, but the color of my skin is a red flag. If you have not had any problems, bravo to you, but your experiences does not represent the experience off all.
Well, technically it is a "tourist visa". All tourists should have an exit ticket. That is the rule pretty much everywhere in the world. It just comes down to if the rule will be enforced. In most cases, the decision is at the discretion of the officer. It is always a roll of the dice. Have a exchangeable ticket, it is worth the extra money not to be stressed.
