Bob D'Andrea Thank you for clarifying. I suspected that it depends on your embassy. I've gotten an emergency passport to leave my home country as well as one for my daughter to leave Korea (when not traveling to my home country). The only requirement from my embassy (USA) was that I have a plane ticket departing in 3 days. But maybe rules are different in Thailand???

I thought anything beyond 6 months was considered long term resident (of course I know thats not a long time in practice). I arrive in Thailand today and I'm not sure if this will count as one of my entries for 2026 under the new rules. So, I figured I may as well get the DTV sooner or later. I always just assumed I could apply from Korea. 😮‍💨

I thought anyone with an ARC has resident status. It's litterally in the name "Alien Residence Card" (formally Alien Registration Card). OP should still check especially if that used to be a rule.

DTV_BegPecker it gives you residency. I have the visa as well.
