if you go on vacation, you get an internet connection from a

store. You just choose how fast connection you need, how much talk time etc. When you need more time just buy it. Passport needed in (any) store. There is many companies like Dtac, Tru move, and Ais. Choose what you like.

Why is it important for expats to open a Thai bank account?

All my bills are depited from my account as direct debit. It would hardly work from domestic account or atleast it would be expensive. A permanent phone subscription reguires a local bank account.
