no doubt most of it in Pattaya .

You're like the last person they should be listening to .

You stated it's not law ... you can read correct ?

Your name should be Damien "Moron"

You DO NOT live in Thailand!

@Damien *******
🤦 Nothing like showing up and find out after you arrive .. that would be fun wouldn't it ..

But then again maybe that's how you like it ...then cut your planned 2 yrs to 6 months and ruin everything

My friend, you need to be aware before you enter just in case they slap you with a penalty ... not being aware isn't an excuse neither is pleading ignorance ..both bring you to the same place

So many of you just trying to lay low and hopefully they won't find you lol 😆

@Todd ********
how so ? Explain please. The law says if you stay in the kingdom more than 180 days in a year you are subject to the new tax legislation if you are bringing money into Thailand...
John **********
You will fall under Thailands new income tax law if you stay more than 180 days a yr ... you may be required to file a tax return in Thailand each 12 months

Yes , I think the Thai govt is going to look at these treaties very close . In the case of Canada it states it applies to government officials only who are in Thailand for work ie: embassies or such . It doesn't say it applies to all Canadians

I'm actually waiting to see what happened with other Canadians living in Thailand and if the Thai govt accepted the treaty in full

If someone spends most of the year in Thailand then goes home for a few months then returns over & over ... are they subject to the Thai foreign income tax rule even though they don't consider Thailand home but fall with the 6 month rule?

yes , Superrich in Bangkok usually has much better rates
John **********
Those rates are terrible. At Super Rich in Bangkok exchange on Canadian Dollar is 26.90 compared to 25.20 shown at the airport

It's very difficult.. my wife , fiancé at the time 2 yrs ago, was also denied siting the typical no ties to Thailand.

She was employed, had enough money in the bank but did not matter

Basically she needs to own a house or car or something of value that will make her return to Thailand .She should also have a healthy sum of money in her bank account that she earned on her own and a decent career ..not working in a market or farm

My wife had a teen living with her at the time but even that didn't phase immigration in Thailand..still denied

She's now her with me but we got married and I did a spousal sponsorship and they only then allowed her a travel visa to leave pending her permanent residence approval which we just recieved

@Keith *******
I think they want to tax any gain you made if you're leaving Canada and moving to another country

Lots of Canadians leaving Canada now and maybe it's their way of trying to stop it ...just guessing

I'm planning on moving but between the Thai Govt income-tax bs and the Canadian govt now trying to grab cash as well ..its making me rethink it all
