I haven't had a bank account locked here in Thailand but I think everyone should have two different banks and keep some cash and gold in reserve just in case it is needed. I started doing this after my Canadian bank locked my account last year and force me to fly home before I ran out of money. Now have two bank accounts in Canada with different pensions going into both accounts plus a reserve in cash and gold here.

You are allowed to bring 20,000 U.S. into Thailand. Then with draw the rest from atm but you still need a bank account and harder to get now. You need a long term visa OA 1 year and lease agreement .

No big deal pay fine and leave unless you are stopping and arrested then anywhere from 2 weeks to a month sleeping on the floor in the detection center and then deported back to your own country and banned from Re-Entry into Thailand for the next 5 years. $ 1000 baht at the airport or 1900 baht at immigration to extend your stay for the remaining time before your flight out. Up too you as they say in Thailand but they have check stops out all over the place very risky if you ask me.
