I had this exact issue today in Koh Phangan. TM30 was from last year. Visa run was 1 month ago. Even though I have stayed at the same place for 4 years and am probably still in the system, they wanted a printed TM30 from within the time since the last visa run
I've paid for the 6 months visa. Have the receipt. But have not paid for extension because it has not been approved. The point was pushed and I've been told to leave Thailand until they've made their decision whether to extend or not. At that point I can either receive the smart visa extension at a tourist embassy in another country, or come back on a tourist visa and switch to the extended smart visa.. 😶
BOI hasn't approved or rejected the extension application and made it very clear that we will need to somehow extend our visa or make preparations to leave if they don't finish in time 🙄
I have Schwab and recall checking the 2 even with returning the AtM fees. Wise was the better option ultimately. But the savings was not anything major, moreso just saves the hassle of the ATM withdrawal and deposit procedure
I believe when I compared the total $US pulled from ATM and deposited into Thai acct vs. Wise transfer, it was cheaper to use Wise even with my ATM fees being refunded. Something about the exchange rate I believe.
