Is the Mae Sot Border Hassle-Free for a One-Day Visa Run?

Thank you, and yes I’m not looking to get an SETV or any other visa but just a 30 day exempt (I’ve not had any of the 2 land border crossings yet) before I leave Thailand 👍🏼

I’m hoping Mae Sot will be fine then, from what I know its possible to get a day border pass into Myanmar? My Thai friend will also be with me.

Do a border run just after Christmas? That’s what I’d do. Get a fresh 30 days.

What is the best strategy for transitioning from a visa-exempt stamp to a work visa in Thailand?

Extend by another 30 days at immigration - 1900 baht. After that go get a 60 Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) at an embassy in a nearby country. That can also be extended by 30 days if you need to.

Should give you enough time to sort Job stuff out and convert to a non-imm B 👍🏼

Not yet James, I’ll be spending a few days on Langkawi and then enter back via boat at the Satun border. So I can confirm if everything is fine there once I come back in a few days. I know it’s wise to wait until I definitely cross back but just wanted to relay the experience at that specific embassy 👍🏼
