You mention you were last in BKK in Dec 2025. How many times did you come and go on visa exempt stamps in 2025? If you had multiple entries, that may appear like someone attempting to live long term in Thailand, the immigration officer can still deny entry. Just a heads up. It's not like you get a clean slate with the new calendar year.

go to virtually any copy shop. Most will be able to have you email or send the documents from your phone (via LINE) to them to print for you.

Yes, you need printed copies. Not digital.

not really that strict. If you keep the 800k in your Thai bank account, start transferring in at least 65k each and every month as a transfer from your home country bank. If you've done this for the 12 months prior to your next annual extension of stay, you should be able to change to the income method. Once you're approved for your next Extension of Stay under the income method, you would be free to withdraw/use/transfer the 800k.

ALWAYS confirm with your local immigration office as each can vary.

I've always worn shorts/golf shirt there. I've never had an issue. 😎

The experiences they describe are often from different immigration offices and done at different times. For example, what they were told last March, may be different from what we're told now. If you provide everything listed on the requirements list they give you now, put them in the same order they are on the requirements list, and sign all copies before hand, it should be smooth sailing. It always has been for me.

While they asked for the hand-drawn map in past years, they did not ask for it when I renewed last month.

go into the immigration office and ask for the requirement for 1y Extension of Stay for Retirement. They will give you the list of requirements as well as the application form. I go and ask for it every year, in case anything has changed.

I'd suggest the separate bank account just for the retirement deposit. keep it clean and free from other transactions. 1year statement needed for each year's Extension of Stay will be one page and very easy for the immigration officer to review (making them happy).

newbieretiree65 Yes, when they give you your passport with new extension stamp back (and don't forget your re-entry permit) you might ask them directly if you need to come back to report with the updated bank book after 90 days. If they say yes, you might tell them your travel plans, what dates you plan to leave and return, and ask them how they want you to handle it. Keeping in mind, you would still need to keep the funds in the account during that time, whether you are in the country or not.
