expats have money. Lots of Thai people are dirt poor. The government wants money. Why would they go after dirt poor people for something they don't have?
and what happens if they scrap this whole thing after you openly admit that you are working within the country? You might have a hard time convincing them you're just here as a tourist after handing over all the evidence that you clearly are not.
we'll see. One department can say one thing, another acts differently. You guys can be the guinea pigs. They changed their tax code this year, so anyone staying in Thailand for 180 days this year is not being smart. Better to wait it out.
So by applying for this visa, you are raising your hand and letting them know that you would be happy to fall into their tax system. Have fun with that.
As soon as you hit 180 days, you're liable to pay tax. You'd be considered a tax resident of Thailand, and they would have all the evidence they need to prove it. They even let you extend for another 180 days so you can dig yourself a deeper grave lol
