What should I do if my passport is stolen and I need to travel home from Thailand?

I missed an international flight recently. It was delayed and I miscalculated my wait time whilst plane spotting in a different part of the terminal. I then saw my plane taxiing away from the gate. I went into an anxious panic. But at least I still had the means to fix it!
