Thongchai Lioy the old birth certificates didn’t have id number on them . I would add ,if anything is spelt wrong it can be a real nightmare. Try and get that sorted . Once you have Thai birth cert you can get your first Thai passport from embassy in states I think . Only the first one .then once you get to Thailand you get your name in a relatives house registration.and with that you can get id card . If you mum can’t go with you it dose make it more tricky. But if you have relatives in Thailand you can also do dna test . But with birth cert and passport you probably don’t need to do that .but you do need to be registered to a house.again joint Thai citizenship Facebook. Only place you will get reliable information

if he was born before 1982 and has a Thai birth certificate that says he’s Thai .he is still Thai . Yes you are right he didn’t look 50+ but my point is that if he was born Thai ,he still is .

You’re going to need at least a Thai birth certificate that says you are Thai . If you have that then you can begin a very very very long process. Was mother or father Thai ? If not were they permanent residents at time of your birth?

if parents were permanent residents then it dose but I believe cut off was 1972 . If his birth certificate says he is Thai .then he is still Thai . I was born in Thailand in 1969 to uk parents and have been Thai since birth. Yes I have Thai ID and passport. His birth certificate will say khon Thai if he was born Thai . My point being, when and where and to whom is all relevant. Laws have been amended many times .just saying .not trying to be smart ass . Thai citizenship Facebook group is the place to go for all things about that .

After you have read all the comments. Take a screen shot of the one you decide to go with . Then if it turns out to be wrong you can show immigration and im sure they will understand why you couldn’t be bothered to go and ask them in the first place , and everything will be fine .

Bangkok ,Phuket ,HuHin , Samui ,Chiang Mai . Pataya.. Let’s be clear , these are not good representation of most of Thailand. They are little havens for people who can’t really hack Thai life and still want all the western choices .
