Karsten Bo Andersen Karsten but it’s your responsibility to make sure it’s been done.

Who do you believe is in fine territory both parties.

The post was about if you leave Thailand and return do you have to do the TM30 the answer is yes you do.

How can a landlord be responsible for a TM30 if you went overseas how would the landlord know?

So don’t live in a bubble otherwise it will burst on you

OxyJane Ch great post and it’s correct, others assume going on holiday in Thailand for a few weeks is okay but again TM30 has to be done upon your return,

James Power James be careful by the middle of this year immigration are implementing their enforcement plans.

It if are happy so be it but it’s happing.

Just like the expats stating that the expat new drying license laws won’t happen.

Well as of January 2026 they are being enforced by DLT.

You most probably heard of long queue times to get a DLT appointment, so what’s changed.

Rules are being enforced but LTD that’s why,

Anyway what you do is your decision but a few people are in for a shock sooner rather than later.

It’s happing

Bob D'Andrea Bob you have been advise stop advising others on incorrect information by a visa office,

You are misleading others to do the wrong thing.

You honestly have no idea.

It’s irrelevant what you have done let’s hope by the middle of 2026 the immigration will implement planned changes, because you know it all you will know those changes.

Just like the 2926 driving licence changes but again you know it all.

Your statements are just misleading and honestly you should be reported.

Just stop it

Ian Morrison Ian not correct Sam is spot on.

If you live in Thailand and leave Thailand for a holiday or even travel within Thailand for a period of time you have to do a TM30 upon your return even if you have live in the address for a longtime.

Your opinion is completely wrong a re-entry permit has no relevance with a TM30.

Your assumption may be okay for awhile if that’s what you believe. But then when you go for a renewal you are rejected because the TM30 wasn’t done, if you rent it may say landlord responsibility but it’s the renters responsibility to ensure it’s been done.

It’s your problem if you follow what you feel and are okay with but I am not going to bore you with the very situation as you put it impacted a friend when I told him you go on holiday in Thailand or to another country he has to do a TM30.

His response it’s the landlord responsibility I told him how does a landlord know you are on holiday?

Finally he got the message, I told him ask the immigration officer at immigration at the information counter at Chon Buri in the brown uniform she stated if you don’t it likely it eventually catch up with you.

Graham Seal it’s not a renewal issue. It’s obtaining your first two year Thai licenses starting in 2026.

The aged 70 and over rule will also be enforced so all the 70 year olds currently who have a five year license and when it’s renewed LTD has the right to enforce license term as per the policy.

Ian Whyte not correct Ian are you an agent or an offical and the answer is no and you are basing your statement on hearsay information.

Not with renewal and the only impacts for expats is the timeframe available for an appointment. But for a change over from own country license to a Thai license it’s changed.

Not like originally colour eye test and reaction, residents certificate, medical, IDP and own country license done.

For a change over of licence first time it’s all changed.

I personally couldn’t care less I have Thai licenses so I am not impacted but from a friend who thought he would outsmart the system it backfired badly.

He booked an appointment at a LTD where he couldn’t get in for three weeks, he should have don’t it locally.

Anyway he spent the night in a hotel went to the regional LTD for his appointment at 8:30am found out he had to do the question tests, watch videos, failed the test by this time it was mid afternoon, in frustration he stated to walk out of the LTD but the staff member called him back and told him he could sit the test again and this time he passed the test.

End of story no, he had to book another night stay in the hotel he had to go back for the riding skills tests, finally left the LTD with license in hand at 12:30.

He told me if he knew what was ahead of him he wouldn’t have done it by himself but got help from an agent.

What was the case isn’t the case now.
