I’m not overly worried about getting it wrong, I’m more worried about me messing around 3 or 4 times, with back and forths to hotels and messing about with whatever requirements I may have missed.

Immigration office is probably half an hour away from where I am so I don’t really want to spend a day sitting in the car going back and forth because I forgot this or that, or the letter from the hotel isn’t correct, or that I didn’t bring a copy of some other random thing that I should have brought.

this will be my first time reporting and as I mentioned I was just trying to make sure I had everything I needed before I went there to save headaches/stress.

I’ve been here for about 2 months, and have only been in hotels.

I’ll probably only ever be in hotels because that’s what I prefer so I don’t have a “landlord” as such.

Unless, of course the hotel is my landlord which I’m starting to think is absolutely the case.

yeah, based on the responses it seems to me that hotels are connected to some kind of immigration interface to automate the TM30 registrations whereas the private landlords don’t have that so have to revert to old school paperwork.

I guess what I was really trying to avoid was having to go back and forth to immigration because I’d done something wrong or had missed some piece of important information/documentation that is required.

This is my first lodging so I just want to get it right to save myself from any headaches.

mine was Aussie embassy in sydney and in total it took about a month but I had to re-submit for a couple of reasons..

I think they are swamped with applications so get it in early if you can.

10 biz days is the general rule of thumb.

Embassy staff are great but clearly swamped.

I certainly opened a can of worms on this one (totally unintentional).

The visa is still very new as someone mentioned in one of the posts, which makes sense that there’s a bit of confusion surrounding it all.

At the end of the day, it’s their country, their laws and their immigration rules so whatever needs to be done, needs to be done.

I have no idea.

My guess is it’s simply keeping tabs on people and gives them some kind of record of my whereabouts if ever needed in the future.

No idea what they need for the 90 day check in, but I presume it’s a couple of recent photos and passport copy, along with accomodation confirmation.

I’m searching this groups past posts because I know there’s a lot of posts but it’s hard to find it;)
