If you get your name added to the Tabien Baan they will swap the blue book for a yellow one. I opted out, in case some future government decides to discriminate holders of yellow books, e.g. complications in selling the house, etc.

Basically, no. When I switched from work permit to marriage visa, I asked if the annual renewal date could be moved further away from the 9th January, as this restricted my Christmas holiday trips back to the UK. It was moved to 28th December! 😞

Loma Topo Bangkok Bank always charged me a flat rate of THB 1,000 for transfers from the UK. Since I started using Wise, the change is zero. The Wise charge was minimal.
