Anonymous participant my little one is extremely happy and is a registered service dog so she’s happy when she’s with me. We ended up not going back to Australia because I didn’t want to put her through the 30 days of quarantine in Melbourne so we moved back to Thailand. She lives a great life and is a healthy & happy pup.

I feel bad for the dogs I see many posts about in expat groups of people that leave Thailand and ditch their dogs. Mine is like a family member so there’s no way I’d go anywhere without her. She’s my best pal for life 🐶🥰

Anonymous participant much longer than 10 to 12 days, your dog will need to quarantine in another country for six months and then quarantine in Melbourne for 30 days. Australia doesn’t allow dogs coming from Thailand.

I had to quarantine my own dog for six months in USA after being in Thailand but also know an Aussie couple who ended up moving to Mexico because they couldn’t get their Australian dog back into the country after 7 years in Thailand.

Simply sharing to hopefully help you not have to deal with the trouble. Best of luck to you. 🙏

Anonymous participant oh ok. Are you planning on staying long term because once in Thailand you will not be able to take your dog back to Australia, are you aware of this?

Be mindful of your Thai bank account too. As DTV holders we’re unable to have Thai bank accounts.

Entered BKK with no issues whatsoever with my brand new DTV. Warm greeting and no questions asked.

Hanoi Vietnam was a smooth and quick process (super stressful!) but totally worth it in the end.

Anonymous participant I know how stressful it is. I just got back to Thailand, and had 7 days of sleepless nights and anxiety in Hanoi haha. If it offers any comfort that 180 days stamp upon reentering Thailand makes it worth it.

A little agony during the waiting process but well worth it once approved. Good luck with your application, I know the waiting sucks. 🙏
