My impression (right or wrong) is that the Indonesians in general have been a little bit more "accepting" of the numbers here and willing to let life go on fairly normally, while some other countries (e.g., Thailand) would be in almost total lockdown mode if they had the same numbers there.

Honestly I haven't seen actual infection numbers for Jakarta and Java in general for months, but I know the rumor mill and belief among the Balinese has been and continues to be that C19 is much worse over there (but maybe not really the case in fact).

Don't know where you heard that, but I think you are thinking of Jakarta and rest of Java. C19 is not rampant here...not even close. People go freely with masker and hang out. Many places still open...discounted prices everywhere. Been here for 11 months and been all over the island and totally enjoyed it. Christmas and NYE were great too! Sing ken ken (no problem).😎

Being "stranded" in Bali for the past 11 months ain't so bad.😎

I use iBanking on the BKK Bank website to check my local CM savings account and credit card accounts, but I can only check my direct deposit account with the NY Branch by calling the customer service number that Dana is trying to call. I've been doing this for almost 10 years.

Yes Dana, I was extremely fortunate to get "stranded" here in March and unable to return to Chiang Mai. And now I'm in no rush to get back.😄

Not sure if this makes a difference calling BKK Bank, but I have been calling them using Viber and like I said, I eventually get through to English.
