What are my options if I overstay the 60-day limit on my free visa exemption in Thailand?

A week ago in genuine error, I overstayed by 1 day picked up by flight check in desk… the agent said it might be a 500 BHT fine yet at passport control I declared my mistake handing passport & said sorry. I was forgiven yet clearly told don’t do it again!
