I hope this falls I to the everything else category.
I have been in the UK since April and have had no issues with my Bangkok Banking app for the three years I have had the account. Today I tried to open the app and was presented with the message below. I am somewhat surprised because I bought the sim card I use in 2019 and opened my bank account in 2022. I certainly did not use anyone elses name to get either. I have rung the number and spoken to someone about the issue and they say I have to go to my local branch to sort it out. As that is over 6000 miles away I explained it wasnt possible! I also explained that now I am unable to pay my rent or for utilities and other things. He told me he would look into it and would contact me within 5 days by email. I dont hold out much hope. I also need to transfer money back to UK as the cost of living here is horrendous and I cant return to Thailand until October.
Has anyone else had this situation and found a way to get around it from abroad? I am aware that it has happened to others but I thought I was safe as I had both sim and account in my name?
I'm going to be flying to Hanoi soon and applying for a DTV Visa. Most of my bank accounts are Canadian and Singaporean, but I'd like to forgo the Vietnam visa fee by entering with my Norwegian passport (also time consideration as my flight leaves soon). Would it be awkward to apply with my Norwegian passport, if all of my bank accounts are Canadian and Singaporean?
Hey …. So since this bank has a location in Los Angeles… I should just open an account while here and then move to Thailand since the main branches are out there. I can imagine this would be the easiest way to get a Thai account..? Anyone try this before ?
US citizen. Hoping to go on an OA visa in December.
A few questions (again) after using search here and some google/web.
1. Any opinions on State Department Federal Credit Union and the ACA group that is the path to getting accounts there? Supposedly they are good with foreign addresses, and also web/ip platforms for MFA. Issue is I don't see a lot of current reviews, or mentions in the expat groups.
2. Maintaining US credit cards as an expat. Not expecting a tutorial here but any links to good info or first hand success in keeping them open?
3. Why don't we see any info on Gentleman Girls, only Lady Boys? (OK disregard this one).
I am an American. I am planning my retirement and will marry a Thai national soon. My question is, is it possible to have my retirement income deposited into a Thai bank account? Also when I'm eligable, the same for Social security? Is it easy to open a bank account in Thailand, Hua Hin? Any advise or exerience is welcome.
