Can’t access my KrungThai Bank Acct!!

I opened my KrungThai bank account 2yrs ago when I was in Thailand using my educational visa paperwork. All good, used the account for loads of transactions and daily life.

I am now back in the UK. No plans to return to Thailand anytime soon. Changed my mobile and can’t access the Krunghtai app. It prompts me for my passport number. I give it. Then it says more ID required and go to the branch in person.

Going to the branch in person is not possible. They must have a ID verification process for foreign account holders who are not in Thailand??

Can someone advise?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties accessing their KrungThai bank account from the UK after changing their mobile phone. The app requests additional ID verification and prompts a visit to a branch in person, which is not feasible for the user. Comments suggest that access issues are common for foreign account holders and often require in-person verification, suggesting that the user's long-term visa status may play a role. The user considers attempting to withdraw funds via ATM as a potential solution.

Really useful feedback guys thanks. Appreciate it. Oh by the way, I still have an active and valid DTV visa.

As I won’t be in Thailand anytime soon. It feels like my only chance now is to try and withdraw the funds from an ATM as I still have the active debit card with me.

Normally when a bank needs to verify a customer's identity, it's always in person.

Krungthai bank you have to be in Thailand to get access again to your account I have the same issue

Happened to me same with Bangkok Bank last month.

New cellphone. Impossible to log in. I had to go there in personal. They checked everything. New scan my face...

Now it's working on my cellphone. Also from foreign countries.

you can change web login userid and pw from a Bangkok bank atm. No problems logging in on the Web and app.

Hi. Thanks for your responses. I didn’t change my phone number. Only my phone (hardware). I had to go through similar processes with out secure banking apps. But the KrungThai one … it prompted me for my passport number. I gave it. Then it said it wanted more and needed me to visit a branch…

if you still have your old phone you might be able to access your account. I'm in a similar boat, I changed my phone but still access my Thai banks with my old phone, next time I go to Thailand I'll fix it up then.

surely a bank of this scale that accepts foreign customers would have a policy to handle these types of situations where it’s not possible for an in person branch visit?

@Nadeem *******
first time in Thailand ? 😃🤔
Will ************
@Nadeem *******
not a chance this is Thailand either you show your face at the bank with all the documents they require you wait until you can do it . This is Anti Money Laundering requirements.
Andrew ********
Changed your phone number..

That's the issue ..
Peter *********
Ask the bank. I assume you have a long term visa? If not there is your answer.
Garry *******
It will be closed if you don’t have a long time visa , because you changed numbers . The bank has to change the phone number in the system with you at the branch . And if you don’t have a visa non - o or other visa long term . It will be closed
Garry *******
Ok . But what’s the point having a account with out the app ? Can’t QR code scan or nothing . Always have to go into the bank

@Garry ******
utter nonsense.

I know several people that no longer have long term visas that still have KrungThai bank account that Krungthai happily let them use, they just completely shut off access to the app and it won't be reinstated unless they get a long term visa.

As long as the bank was opened legitimately, for legitimately reasons, with legitimately documents and used legitimately the entire time its a none issue.

@เดแคลน **********
is that legitimate?😂
Garry *******
@เดแคลน **********
why say that . ?

It’s true. I changed phones and they had to put a pin it . For the banking app .
เดแคลน ***********
@Garry ******
changing your phone and getting locked out the app for security requiring you to go visit a branch is not at all the same as what has been asked or said here...

It also very much doubt you got your account locked and closed for changing your phone.

@Ga***
that's Bangkok Bank, not Krungthai. I've seen other people post that Krungthai policy is no app access without long term visa but they are not closing already opened accounts.
Garry *******
@เดแคลน **********
no I didn’t get my app blocked or account .

I changed phones and had to go into the bank so they had to put a PIN code into the app .

As for kasikorn bank . What I said it true . My sons uncle is a bank manager
