I'm slightly confused. I understand the 400,000 bht requirement in a Thai bank to get the marriage visa. I also understand that I will need to get the 90 day non-o visa from my local Thai consulate. However, I saw a requirement that I need to show a financial amount of 20,000 bht to apply for that 90 day visa.

1. That seems like a very small amount; only about $600. Is that correct?

2. I assume that it can be in a US bank, but is there a certain amount of time that the deposit must be shown?

3. Can it be in a joint checking account with my wife, or does it need to be in a separate account in my name only?

4. If I can't use a joint account, can I show an IRA account that is in my sole name?

5. I realize that these are probably very dumb questions, but I want to make sure that I have everything properly arranged before I start. Thanks
