TLDR : Answer Summary
A Spanish citizen looking to stay in Thailand for over three months can consider applying for a TR (Tourist) visa, which allows for an initial stay of 60 days plus a possible 30-day extension. Alternatively, the Special Tourist Visa (STV) is an option that grants a 90-day stay with possibilities to extend up to 270 days. It is advisable to check the local Thai embassy's website for specific requirements, including COVID-19 entry regulations, and also to prepare necessary documents such as flight bookings and accommodation confirmations.

Stay home for a year. Nothing to see here. Air pollution worst on planet. Quarantine prices higher than resorts.

Most bars restraunts closed or out of business

You can start with TR visa 60 days and plus 30 days extension. You could also change TR visa to many types of visa to stay longer in Thailand.

My boyfriend from USA came to Thailand in December 18th, 2020. What he has done was :

1) Booked round trip flights

2) got Covid insurance (I’m an insurance agent I did this process for him and get confirmation paper within a day)

3) booked the hotel (direct to the hotel) and got hotel confirmation

4) apply for visa and coe at the same time. (In November 2020).

5) send all paper and passport to the embassy/consulate.

6) he got visa back and got coe though email

7) rt-PCR Covid test and fit to fly before departure time 72 hrs.

8 ) arrived Thailand safely, went through custom and the hotel picked him up from the airport.

The process shouldn’t be too much different except for visa and coe website, America has owned website from the embassy.

I hope everything going smoothly for you!

now the rule is just changed to reduced quarantine period for the vaccinated travelers.

For the past year the mandatory quarantine period in Thailand has been 14 days, sometimes up to 16 days and 15 nights. Now the Thai government has reviewed the quarantine period and announced changes.

If you’ve been vaccinated against the coronavirus, the mandatory quarantine period will be reduced from 14 days to 7 days. The announcement was made by Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin in a press conference yesterday afternoon. Those who haven’t been vaccinated, but have a medical certificate declaring that they are Covid-free, will be required to quarantine to 10 days, Anutin said, according to Reuters.

Minister Anutin says vaccinations must be administered within 3 months of travelling to Thailand. Travellers must still show negative Covid-19 test results issued within 72 hours of their departure to Thailand. Those travelling from Africa must still quarantine for 14 days “due to concerns about new variants of the coronavirus”.

It starting from April 1st

Great news good luck!

You can obtain a STV online, maybe also from your embassy (call them to ask is better), it gives you 90 days which you can extend twice, so you get total 270 days here .. come with money or an online job if you want to stay, as there are no jobs.... here on koh phangan many are closed & i believe most in samui & tao too .. its very quiet due to restrictions, but its also beautiful, i always prefer low season anyway but sad for the locals... koh phangan is one of the few places that are doing ‘ok’ coz of its (expat) yoga community, i no samui is super quiet & tao is a ghost town with limited ferry service, unlike phangan .. where are you doing the diving? Have you booked with the school?

Stay in the beach areas. Inland and North have burning with 'very dangerous ' ppm levels. Burning will continue for a few more months. Last year burning thru Aug.

Need N-95 masks for burning ,but not available. The cotton Covid masks do not filter out the nitrates and will severely damage your lungs.

For what reason you want to stay here?

@Benjamin *****
I am gonna do a diving course and hopefully get a job as a diver after that
Teya *******
@Tathiana *****
unless you are doing an instructor course you cannot really legally work in diving industry in Thailand. And at the moment most instructors who are still here do not work in diving, no customers. Hopefully this will change.

I didn't even know this, every diving centre I've contacted about a dive master course has said there is plenty of job opportunities afterwards, I guess it wasn't on their best interest mentioning that
Teya *******
@Tathiana *****
ask them if they will provide a eork permit for you after the course 🙂 There might be some freelance work when the tourists come back but without work permit it is illegal.

@Teya ******
thank you I will do that
Teya *******
@Tathiana *****
also not that if you manage to get (buy) a work permit, you need to buy a non b visa which is not cheap.
Steve *******
@Teya ******
Non Imm B visa is 2000bt, around €60.
Teya *******
@Tathiana *****
they want your money 🙂 At the moment the industry is struggling, not only here but worldwide.

@Teya ******
are DMs not really legit ? It is something I will be pursuing in the future but put it off for the time being with the above reasons
Teya *******
@Mike ******
You are most likely not able to get a work permit as a DM unless you have somekind of another role in the company which hires you and is willing to apply the work permit for you.
Mike *******
@Teya ******
thank you for your reply I never gave it any thought until I read your comment, handy to know

@Tathiana *****
do the course but dont hold up hopes for a job yet. Lots of instructors lack of tourists (worldwide) But follow your dreams, cannot think of a better place for training.

@Tathiana *****
I recommend going and getting a tourist visa then :)

A start would be to look at your local embassy website.

A TR visa will give you 60 days plus can extend for a further 30 days
