Hi,

Has anyone successfully applied for a visa at the Thai embassy London by post recently?

On the website it says you can apply by post and if you call the embassy they say you cannot on the automated message...

Thanks

- Oh and after 1.5 hours on hold trying to speak to someone there to get confirmation I thought id try here, thanks.

Quick update - applied for my non-imm O visa by post to the London Thai embassy on last Tuesday and received my passport back with visa on Saturday morning. I included 3 months bank statements but no flight booking and paid by cash. Thanks for all the comments! 👍

Hey
@T**
, one last quick question. The year long extension - would that be a multi entry or is it void if I leave the country? Thanks

, you will get stamped in for 90 days when you arrive and then you have two choices for an extension on it

A year long extension of stay by showing 400K baht in a bank for 60 days before you apply

OR

a 60 day extension that you can get without financial requirements by showing the marriage certificate, your wife's thai i/d and her house book

All extensions of stay cost the same amount 1900baht no matter the length of time they're issued for

marriage and just single entry 90 days. Will I still have to extend from 60 days to 90 like on a tourist visa?

(y) :)

What basis did you use to apply for the Non-O and was it a year-long, multi-entry or a 90 day single entry that you got?

I successfully applied for a Non-Imm O visa based on UK retirement (receiving state pension) by post about 3 weeks ago. I got my passport back in about 5 days.

Last time I applied by post I paid by postal order but this time I sent cash. I'm not sure if the website has been updated since I last applied but it currently says that application by post must be paid by cash or postal order. Hopefully should be ok...

Yes, it was. I made sure I sent plenty of 'evidence', such as bank statements and a copy of my return air ticket. I had the same experience, last year, when I applied for a Tourist Visa. You have to pay with a Postal Order, including £10 extra for return postage. I included a self-addressed envelope. Pretty painless.

This sounds like a temporary problem. I'm sure they'll be back to normal as soon as they can. The King's funeral was a big deal to most Thais...

I am currently on a Tourist visa for which I applied to the London embassy by post. Came back by return post, as it has always done over the past several years. Takes 2-3 days. Things could have changed...

Hi, the automated message reads 'Please note that the Royal Thai Embassy cannot accept visa application by post' but on the website they do give instructions to apply by post also.

Not me, but a friend. She did it in the last 3(?) Years a couple of times and after sending her passport she always got it back within 2-3 weeks.

She applied again via post like 5-6 weeks ago and didnt hear anything. She called them several times and nobody answered. She is waiting and doesnt really know whats going on. By the beginning of next week she will go there and figure things out.

What exactly did that automatic message say?
