I just applied for DTV visa in the Netherlands. I need to send an additional letter from my employer that they allow me to work abroad. I got that letter now, but my employer won’t be reachable from now on for a few weeks. Does anyone know if they will actually contact my employer to check?

Not really. The letter should be plausible enough and in Europe most companies can’t verify anything anyway due to GDPR.

Does your contract state explicitly that you are allowed to work remote?

Keep in mind you aren’t legally permitted to disclose your work contract to third parties including embassies without the employers consent. That’s proprietary information.

of course but I can’t think of any jurisdiction where that would be permitted. Of course that’s beside the point and doesn’t solve your problem. I think a letter with clearly spelled out terms would be best.

yes it does say in my contract that I can work from home. But they still asking for a signed letter from my employer also.

Anonymous participant from home actually. But I can get the letter from my employer that states that I can work from outside Netherlands. But I’m worried that they would want to contact my employer to check… but the won’t be reachable for a few weeks.
