I’d like to ask for some feedback regarding applying for a DTV (Workation) dependent visa.
I received my DTV visa in Vientiane, Laos, approved on 15 December 2025.
I am a Belgian citizen, and I am currently in Thailand. Now that my visa has been issued, I would like to apply for my wife as a dependent. My wife is a French citizen.
At the moment, we are not planning to return to Laos to submit her application, as it would significantly disrupt our travel plans. My wife is currently in Thailand under the visa exemption scheme, and we are planning to travel to:
* Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for around 15 days, and then
* Indonesia (likely Bali) for another 15 days.
Because of this, going back to Laos would require unnecessary logistics and re-planning, which we would prefer to avoid.
My questions are the following:
* Could it be an issue that my DTV was issued in Vientiane if my wife applies for her dependent visa in Kuala Lumpur or in Indonesia (Bali/Jakarta)?
* Has anyone successfully applied for a DTV dependent in a country different from where the main applicant’s visa was issued?
Any recent experience or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Hey everyone, my passport has been kept by an agent for 8 months and would really appreciate some advice. In last May I decided to use the service of a (well known) agent in Bangkok to renew my marriage visa. I didn't get my passport back after 8 months (the visa expired in August 2021). The agent won't say anything about the situation other than very vague stuff and she keeps pushing the date back. I had used the same agent previously without problems (other than an already long delay but it was ok).
I'm a bit desperate at this point and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience? I'm a French citizen if that matters. I'm considering reporting the agent to the police and getting a new passport. Thanks!
