[How to Go From the 3 month retirement visa to the 12 month variety]([members only]/)
Now I'm on the 3 month visa finally expiring 22 April. With Krungsri Bank I've been told that my account may be opened on 27 February: 4 weeks hiatus.
They explained the 4 weeks as 'the application documents must go to our head office for checking'
Me: "what 'checks' require that long an answer period, when you're already able to see certain bona fides from the original documents in front of you?"
Them: (evading) "This is the consideration period because of the volume of applications from foreigners that it's our policy to deal with this way" [shows me a huge ream of pending applications from foreigners]
So problem 1 is that the application for the 12-month can only commence after 60 days on the visa I have now. ie. 22 March. This combines with 'funds seasoning requirement' that "800,000 THB must be in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months before the first application and 3 months after the approval of the visa or extension." It's actually impossible to satisfy this using this bank and on the current visa because by the time of 27 Feb there is then only 1 month + 3 weeks left on the visa & if I wanted to apply at the earliest opportunity then the bank account only will have been in existence for 3 weeks.
My queries:
1. I might want to exit and re-enter the country prior to the appointment of 27 Feb but I've been warned this terminates the 3 month retirement non-o visa validity, presumably along with it the right for applying within Thailand for 12 month non-o visa. What alternatives & solutions?
2. What to do about the insufficiency of time to demonstrate the 2 month 'seasoning' in a Thai account?
3. How is it I hear that professional agents will apply corporate $funds for 30 minutes in&out, long enough to generate a viewpoint current balance statement which satisfies the financial substantiations to Immigration. That's not 'seasoning' for a 2 month continuous period. Do they play fun and games with the passbook which is able to disguise the client account being bereft of the required balance except at around Date A & then again at Date B which is no less than 2 months later & precedes (12 month non-o visa) application date
4. What is accept a proof of funds, incl seasoning? ATM slips from discrete dates? Or does it have to be monthly statements produced from online, which are going to show funds being stripped out in the midst of that seasoning period?
5. In the example of my home country, I couldn't just produce an up-to-date bank statement on any particular date. I would have to wait for the monthly statement generation date, although I could produce a screenshot at any interim. Are such screenshots always acceptable
In case helps anyone else get a question off their shoulder...reply from Thai Embassy in Jakarta this morning, regarding how long the 500k Baht needs seasoning. Figured I'd best ask them directly, as kept getting mixed answers on this page.
Applying for an O extension at Cheang Watthana today and was told to come back for this reason:
my visa expires on march 28. I was able to book an appointment for today, the 17th. I got my bank balance up to 800k on January 24, 2 months and a few days to season or so I thought. I did not know 2 months seasoning is calculated back from the day you’re at immigration to ask for an extension, NOT 2 months back from the day your visa expires. I have to go back March 24-28.
I’ve recently arrived on an EVisa from the Uk for 90days with the aim of extending it to a non O based on marriage.
About to head out and 🤞open a bank account, I’ve checked on here that the 400k doesn’t need to come from abroad and it seems that it doesn’t, can we just confirm that’s still the case please ?
Also, if it all goes well the money would be seasoned for the required 2 months just 2 months and 4 days after arriving.
I don’t lose the extra 25 or so days by applying for my extension early do I ?
I also have 2 half Thai kids that have moved back with us. Does this mean I could apply for a different visa with no seasoning required or am I best off with marriage extension ?
Extension of stay based on lump sum deposit (Married to Thai) - (and couple of other related questions, cos I not use that extension method for years) ?
Before I use the affidavit from Embassy and evidence of monthly transfers. However, because of difficulties related to overseas transfer bank code etc., I decided to switch to lump sum 400k deposit.
Where I may find example of bank letter (Bangkok Bank if this important)?
Should I get this letter a day before application?
The lump sum must be deposited 2 months before application - is this still correct, and how these months are calculated? For example, If I deposited funds at the end of December, will be good to apply in the first days March, or I should calculate some amounts of day (for example, funds deposited on 22 December + 60 days, good to apply on 22 February)?
On the day to get final stamp, should I transfer some small amount to account then update bank book to show the funds still at account?
Please advise which date is used to determine when the required 3 months of seasoning begins? I'm assuming it's 31 August but would like experienced advice as this is my first extension stamp! In addition what date in Dec, is it safe to go below the 800,000 balance?
Quick question regarding my Non-O family Visa. I put the 400,000thb in my account about 15 days ago. I had some unknown automatic payment come out of that account yesterday and the account momentarily dropped below 400,000thb. Is this a problem for the 2 month waiting period? Will this reset the 2 months since it briefly went below 400,000thb? Any advice is appreciated.
