TLDR : Answer Summary
The user confirms the requirement for seasoning money to extend a retirement visa in Chiang Mai, indicating that the full amount of 800,000 THB must be in the bank two months before the extension and three months after, after which it can be reduced to 400,000 THB. Comments from others discuss varying requirements at different immigration offices, particularly highlighting concerns about differing regulations.

What I don't understand is why in Changwattana during my 1 year retirement visa I am obliged to prove that I have blocked 800,000 baht over the last 12 months and not over the last 3 months

you were not, and who ever told you that was wrong,

the seasoning for the FIRST time you get a year extension from a Non-O 90 day visa is 800K baht banked in a thai bank for 2 months before you apply. Most people provide a 3 month transaction detail report.

For the SECOND year extension you would need to show a yearly transaction report, because you have to show you left the 800K in the bank for 3 months after the previous extension was granted, then the balance never went below 400K baht the rest of the year, until 2 months before your new extension it went back to 800K

can you remind me again what amount can be used as a monthly transfer, i think is different for married or not married Thai visa. Also it would be my UK pension that goes on to a UK bank account and I send over the amount, is that ok or does the transfer into the Thai account have to be from a government source directly. Thanks

the financial requirements based on monthly income for retirement extensions are 65K baht a month transferred from abroad into a thai bank account in your name only, each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for the next extension.

ALL the transfers have to "code" (show on your bank detail transaction report) as originating from overseas.

For marriage extension the amount is 40K baht a month

You need to check with your immigration office as to the requirements if you are thinking to use that method

that is the seasoning for EVERY immigration office in the country when a person uses banked money method to get a year extension. It hasn't changed it hasn't increased, it hasn't decreased πŸ™‚

Thank you for the report. That is the same financial requirement of the banked money method for a 1-year extension based on retirement/being over 50, the same as in a police order.

This is about the Chiang Mai office.

Please check with your local immigration office for their detailed requirements as some offices might have a longer seasoning period.
