What is the seasoning time for 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account for a Non-Imm O visa extension based on having a Thai child in Phuket?

I have a question relating specifically to Phuket Immigration that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm trying to find out how long the seasoning time is for the 400,000 Baht I in my Thai bank account to extend my Non-Imm O visa based on having a Thai child (I'm the mother with sole custody and from the UK). Most immigration offices seem to ask for it to be in your bank for 60 days but I read on the Phuket Immigration Volunteers website that it only needs to be in the bank for one week. I just want to find out if that's correct. Really hoping it is as it gives me more time to sort it! I also understand that the police order doesn't mention a seasoning time for this type of visa but I'd rather not argue with immigration if I can help it!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The initial query concerns the seasoning time required for maintaining 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account to extend a Non-Immigrant O visa based on having a Thai child. The original poster seeks clarification amidst conflicting information, with some sources suggesting a 60-day requirement while others indicate it could be as short as one week. Multiple comments confirm that while there is no official seasoning requirement for the bank funds, Phuket immigration may recommend having the amount in the account for a week. Further discussions touch on the relevance of the child's tabien baan registration in Koh Lanta versus residing in Phuket, and the requirement for showing proof of residency during the application process.

I can help with this as I have the same visa extension issued from Phuket immigration for the past 4 years. My understanding is that there is no seasoning required of the 400k and it only has to be in the bank on the day of application however they do ask for it to be in there for a week in Phuket. I have had four 12 month's extensions from Phuket and have had the money in the bank for differing amounts of time for each extension ranging from 2 weeks upto 2 months. The length of time that the 400k has been in there has never been questioned by the immigration officer who incidentally has been the same guy for family visa extensions in Phuket for the past 4 years

amazing news. Thanks so much for letting me know. That's gonna save a lot of stress. 1 week is much easier for me than 60 days and means I can relax for a bit when I get to phuket. This has made my day!

Tis link is a GUIDE only... mentions father not mother. Mentions money in bank 7 days.

Phuket Immigration is dead quiet at the moment so follow Tods advice and go speak to them. They close for lunch 1200 to 1300 (or maybe 1300 to 1400 cant remember)

thanks. Yeah that's where I read about the 7 days seasoning but wasn't sure how accurate that source is. I guess I'll find out soon!

No matter what the immigration officer tells you there is no official seasoning for the 400K baht to be in the thai bank account so you can get an extension based on raising thai children.

Some offices "request" it be in xxx days, but there is no real written requirement meaning ultimately it's up to what ever they tell you to do.

I'd say slog on over to Phuket immigration office and ASK them if there is any seasoning on the banked money method for raising half thai children.

Also, sorry just thought of another question. My daughter's tabien baan is registered to Koh Lanta, Krabi - not Phuket - do you think this will matter for my extension application? We used to live on Koh Lanta but now we're going to be living on Phuket when we move back to Thailand (we've been living in the UK for the last year). Do you think I'll need to show her tabien baan when I apply for the extension or can I just show proof of where we're living in Phuket? Because it's kind of hard for me to get her a tabian baan when I'm not Thai and she lives with me. Eurgh, I'm excited to be living in Thailand again but I've got to be honest here, I've not missed this visa headache while I've been away for a year! ๐Ÿ˜€

won't matter at all as long as you filed TM30s and now show you live IN Phuket

not yet - I'm still in the UK and arriving next week, so will check with them then.

I assume that you have legal statutory confirmation from the Thai Court that you are recognized as the Mother of the Thai child ? As you say you have full custody of the Thai child.

Simply stated... It's two months that the 400,000 Thai baht funds need to be in a Thai bank account in your name only.

The financial requirements for a dependant visa for Thailand is that you have either or 400,000 Baht in a Thai Bank account in Thailand for 2 months before applying or a statutory declaration from your embassy in Bangkok confirming you have an income equivalent to or greater than 40,000 Thai baht per month.

Also is it a dependent visa that I'd be on? I'm never sure what the term is for the extension I get! This post says that officially there is no seasoning time for the 400k for extensions based on raising half-Thai children. But I used to get my extension in Krabi and they asked me to have the money in my bank for 60 days.

Thanks for clarifying. I've been getting that visa for a few years in krabi but just get confused by all the different visa types and terminology!

There is no official seasoning requriements. If the immigration office wants you to show the money seasoned, ask to see the police order.

>Also is it a dependent visa that I'd be on?

No. You will be on a One Year Extension of Stay Based on Raising Half-Thai Child.

A VISA is (almost always) a sticker that is placed in your passport by a consulate office OUTSIDE of Thailand. GENERALLY, they let you stay in Thailand for either 60 days (for tourism), 90 days (For Non-O and Non-B) or one year (Non-OA). These can be sold as single entry, or multiple entry. A single entry visa is 2K THB (or local currency) and a multiple entry visa is 5K THB (or local currency).

An EXTENSION OF STAY is a stamp that is placed inside your passport by an immigration office. An EXTENSION OF STAY IS ALWAYS "Single entry" (since you're inside Thailand). ALL Extension of stays are 1,900 THB

I don't think the British Embassy confirms proof of monthly income any more do they? It would make things much easier if they did!

I do not think they provide proof of income anymore. You will have to ask them.
