What is the experience of entering Thailand with a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV)?

Entered BKK today for the first time since being approved for DTV, had a paper printout of the DTV which I handed over with my passport and boarding card, stamped in for 180 days although I’m only here for two weeks on this occasion. Didn’t get asked about income, balance or that TDAC thing. Was though immigration in under a minute.

I plan to use the DTV as an actual digital nomad though, entering and leaving Thailand several times a year. I don’t plan to “live” here as it were - I would be surprised if any single stay goes over 30 days but it’s nice to have the reassurance they won’t question why I’ve entered and left 10-12 times a year. I’m a digital nomad so that’s how I live 😂 🇹🇭

I was doing this whole digital nomad thing for 6 years but at some point it gets a bit tiring. At least you have a visa if you decide to settle down in Thailand in a couple of years 🙂

Just wonder.. Why do you need the DTV for then? Isn't it enough to just enter whenever you need, as most of the countries can get 60 days on entry?

after a couple visa exempt entries the IOs start to scrutinize you, and could ourtright deny you entry. With his situation, after around the 4th entry, they would tell him that he needs to get a proper visa that allows him to come and go as he is doing. The 60-day exemption is for tourists and it is obvious that what he is doing isn't for tourism purposes.

I plan to stay longer going forwards, but also, I thought 12+ upwards tourist entries a year would raise eyebrows. I’m in and out five times between now and Christmas alone.

The DTV is excellent for the multi entry benefit you outline.

I did the same last night - one thing I learned from the immigration agent is that we need to have a printed copy of our visa in hand at every entry -

Yes he did look at the paper copy of the DTV but didn’t ask anything about the TDAC (which I didn’t print or show on my phone, so maybe that’s truly digital unlike the e-Visa).

TDAC comes up on their screen. The visa QR code needs to be scanned

My DTV QR wasn’t scanned. I entered my visa number on the TDAC

Not relevant. You need to have your visa printed out, as indicated by the embassy and the e-visa system. You are leaving yourself open to being stamped in wrong if you don't hand your visa over with your passport.
