Hey lovely community members 👋

I run an online business and my account balance meets the DTV requirement - however, I can't leave Thailand for longer than 4 or 5 days.

Quick question: Is it possible to enter a country around Thailand to apply for DTV visa, and leave after a few days - and then once the DTV visa processing is done, come back to that country and go back into Thailand on DTV visa? So 2 quick visits in total.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback folks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires if they can briefly leave Thailand to apply for a DTV visa, given they can only be away for 4 or 5 days. Community responses emphasize that official rules require applicants to remain in the country where they are applying until their visa is processed, as leaving may risk application rejection. However, some users share personal experiences of others who attempted similar strategies, indicating it’s possible but risky. Suggestions include applying in embassies with faster processing times, such as in Taipei or Vietnam but stressing caution due to potential verification requests.

Ensure your funds are in a personal account and not a business account. Only embassy with fast processing times is Taiwan, you'll also need to show them proof of location and entry stamp.

Official rules say no… but I understand you can’t leave your babies without watering for long time 🤣

I think there won’t be an issue if you choose an embassy like Vietnam which basically pretty much never invites anyone for an interview. I’d just make sure to get evidence(photos outside hotel, …) of your stay just in case they really should ask for additional documentation

Vietnam Embassies have asked for proof you are still in country a few times according to lists in this group. Asking for time stamped receipts in country.

Correct. I applied in HCMC last week and was asked to send in photos of all passport pages including blank pages with date and time stamp on the camera.

Advice is don't. You run the risk of the application being cancelled. However, some people have done this and been approved. It's a risk you need to assess for yourself

Technically you are supposed to stay within the country where you are applying, but some people have gotten away with travel. If caught, it could suck. Curious, why is it so difficult to stay away for more than

days?

You can be approved In Taipei within 1-5 days, if you time everything right and your paperwork is perfect.

When you apply for the DTV you are required to remain in the country you apply in until the process completes. Doing anything else risks your visa application although I've heard of a few people doing what you propose. Consulates nearby can ask you to verify your location just prior to issuing the visa or even call you in for interview

The rules are that you must stay in the country you applied for the visa until it is processed and you have the result. If it is found you have left the country, you face the prospect of having your application rejected/cancelled. However, I am sure there are others that have done exactly what you are suggesting 🙂
