Looking for advice on applying for DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) without third-party services

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and would love to hear from those who successfully applied through the Thai Embassy in Laos, Cambodia, or Vietnam without using third-party visa services.

Here’s my situation:

I have a remote 6-month contract with a Singapore-based company, and the contract will likely be extended in the future.

My supervisor has agreed to assist me with the 500,000 THB proof of funds requirement.

I’ve reviewed the official guidelines and understand the document requirements, but I’m hoping to learn from real experiences about:

1. The process and challenges of applying directly at these embassies.

2. How long the processing time took for you.

3. Any tips or specific embassy policies (e.g., differences between Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam).

4. Any additional documents or details that embassies asked for during your application.

If you’ve gone through this process, I’d greatly appreciate sharing your experience.

Thanks in advance!

Wanted to give an update on my 30 day extension experience at the immigration office in Ko Samui. It’s bit of a mad house if you go after lunch. I ended up waiting about an hour to have my number called to pay for my application then another half hour for my extension stamp. Bring a BLUE PEN or else you’ll be scrambling to borrow one. The shop downstairs next to the office offers printing services of 5 baht per copy if you need to make any. I don’t know how much the photo costs as I already had an extra one but they also offer this service. Inside the office, there are signs posted clearly stating you need to wear a mask and have proper attire, but it was not enforced by any Thai officials. People were wearing shorts, tanks, flip-flops, even saw a middle aged woman wearing daisy dukes 🤦🏻‍♂️ otherwise, process is very straightforward, just allocate spending about 2 hours of your day to get your extension
