hello there, As a Thai tax resident and DTV holder, do I need to pay any taxes if I’m not transferring money to a Thai bank account, and I’m only using my credit/debit cards from my home country? I’m also withdrawing small amounts of cash from ATMs using my home country's bank cards.

Folks on a DTV - are you able to open a Bank account? Also has anyone got a Thai tax ID or Pink card. Some of the banks are refusing to open an account on the DTV.

OK friends of SIAM, here goes : I am planning to apply for the STV visa in Australia for 90 days in Thailand, with possibility of 1 or 2 extensions. The Embassy sent this reply to my question whether I can stay at my friends condo , because they are asking for a fully paid hotel booking on the application form : " If you wish to stay with someone in Thailand, you will not be eligible for STV visa, unless you can provide lease agreement with the receipt and tax no. from the renter. " I am going to sign an agreement with my friend, who owns the condo, send the money into his account, and give them his tax number. This should satisfy them ??? We shall see!!!

I have been reading up on tax residency in Thailand. From what I can find you need to be in the country for 180 days to be considered a tax resident.

I have definitely done that for a few previous years, but I was on tourist visas.

Is it possible to register as a tax resident in Thailand if you are on tourist visas?

I did not earn income in Thailand but I would prefer to pay tax in Thailand.
