I am applying for a 60 day tourist visa from KL. I am having a hard time with their request for proof of paid accomodation for full 60 days with a receipt stating tax ID number. I booked a hotel online but it did not come with the tax payer ID number it was from booking.com. I plan t o cancel this booking and try to figure out how to book accomodation that provide the tax payer ID please suggest any ideas or tips to help me figure out how to fulfill this request of tax number ID...thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is facing challenges in securing a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand from Kuala Lumpur due to a requirement for proof of paid accommodation that includes a tax ID number. They booked a hotel through Booking.com, which did not provide this documentation. The community suggests contacting the hotel for a tax receipt, checking email confirmations for invoices, and some users share their own experiences of successfully using unpaid bookings without tax IDs. There's also a discussion about the feasibility of opting for a 30-day visa stamp upon arrival instead.
My friend just went to the Thai embassy in KL 2 weeks ago for tourist visa and only showed a hotel booking that wasn't even paid yet. No proof of payment was asked or tax number. It was accepted and she picked up her visa the following day. Hope this helps.
legend! Thanks for sharing this info. Ive never had a problem either showing an unpaid booking.com confirmation at KL but after reading this ladies query, i got worried about my upcoming embassy visit too. Appreciate you sharing this info.
Why bother with a 60 day visa if it’s this much hassle . Get a 30 day stamp at the airport and then get it extended for a further 30 days when you are there .
There should be a tax invoice attached to the confirmation of payment email, or it should be accessible under the manage your booking tab. Have a bit of a look through your correspondence before cancelling as the prices may have increased since you originally booked.
Have you presented the accom receipt and had it rejected because it didn't have the number on it? Or are you just trying to follow the rules exactly (as you should...).
Ive done a number of visa runs to KL and always provided booking.com bookings (unpaid) and never had any issues. Ive never checked that detail about the tax id number on my booking forms before. I dont know if it's new or they have just never taken it that seriously.
im very pedantic about following all the rules exactly so i dont have issues. I have a passport full of tourist visa and many of them from the KL embassy. Ive never had an issue with them. I have a visa run in a few weeks and had already printed off my booking.com booking confirmation for the application. But after reading your post, i will go check it. However this is the first time ive seen your question raised here which means its not a common issue people face. My gut instinct is that this requirement would be more for private landlord rentals etc. im pretty sure that booking and agoda are considered reputable the embassy and not excessively scrutinised. But i understand your caution and concern.
Once you've PAID for a booking on Booking dot com you can get a tax receipt. I guess the rule is to plug that loophole that allows people into Thailand without actually having a clear plan to leave
After you pay, you will receive the contact details from the hotel both in the app and confirmation email. You can either contact the hotel directly to request a tax receipt or you can send a message through the booking app. Booking.com themselves won’t issue the receipt on the hotel’s behalf.
That's a super question, Latasha and I thought I knew the answer. Buy I've just looked at previous bookings I've made and can't dind the answer! I know there's an email confirming the booking and the amount paid. I've just looked at some of those and it's not on there either. There is an option to make a request of customer services, so maybe that's how to do it these days
1 of many when applying for E-Visa online.Every page of passport-invite letter/etc.Also 10-15 days max for application approval.3-4 weeks and constant inquiries phone/email,No response. Some tourist on my last flight had departed without their E-Visa after applying weeks ahead.
