What are my options for living in Thailand on a retirement visa without high health insurance costs?

ORIGINAL POSTERI really want to live in Thailand, and I’m willing to jump thru some hoops to make it happen. But with the retirement visa options I have a problem. I’ve gotten a few quotes for the required health insurance, but they eat up 40-45% of my pension income! I’m trying to live comfortably on my $2k/mo pension. Can anybody here guide me to a practical solution? Thanks
