DTV Visa approved in Helsinki

Applied through e-visa system.

Fee was 350€

-Sent my current balance ( required was 15000€)

They asked additional last month's bank statement, was my ''savings'' account, so I had just a few transfers there. Sent and was good.

-For proof of location sent a telephone company bill

- Proof of digital nomad status/portfolio

At first sent a picture of my webpage where I had collection of my works, but that didn't do. Then sent my business register info. That wasn't enough as well. Wrote to them and asked what was needed, I was told I needed a letter from company head stating i was doing remote work as a freelancer and job description in a few words. Wrote the letter to myself as the head of my company, just a few sentences that I work remotely as a freelancer and what I do. Sent, accepted.

Hope this helps someone 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post describes the experience of a user who successfully applied for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) through the e-visa system in Helsinki, Finland. The application involved paying a fee of 350€, providing proof of adequate funds (15,000€), submitting a bank statement, and proving freelancer status. The user shared that their initial attempts to satisfy the documentation requirements were met with requests for further information. Ultimately, a self-written letter from their company head describing their remote work as a freelancer fulfilled the requirements. Comments clarify various aspects of the visa application process, including challenges related to embassy approvals in different countries, the necessity of flight bookings during application, and advice on providing supporting documents.

For me processing time was 7 days total. I provided last 3 months bank account statement in Finnish from "OP pankki". They did request additional documents 1) flight ticket from Finland to Thailand, 2) latest payslip and 3) certificate of employment in English (I originally provided "väliaikainen työtodistus" in Finnish). Visa start date was the visa approval date, not my arrival date.

Thai Embassys don't understand what a freelamcer is (you are free to work how you need and not other people want you to) 🤣

@Kristjan *******
did you sign as the head of the company with your name or just as “the head of the company” I am going through the same scenario!

@Julie **********
Yeah just signed with my name, was funny writing it but it worked, they just need to see the word remote worker or freelancer in there:)

@Kristjan *******
I’m the CEO of the company. I guess I’ll just make an employment certificate where I write to myself that I’m a remote worker with CEO as the position or something? Did you indicate your compensation? I just take dividends so I don’t really have a fixed salary.

I just wrote a real simple letter in google documents and signed with Acrobat. Don't have to mention any pay. The word freelancer or remote worker just has to be there. Good luck!

Do you have to provide any flight booking details ?

@Sky ****
Yes Initially on the application it asks for when your flight to Thailand is, but nothing additional
Daniel *************
Thanks for sharing! How long did it take for you to get it all approved?

took Me like 2 weeks but I was being slow with giving additional documents:)

@Kristjan *******
any particular reason you filed it in Helsinki, perhaps you live in Finland? I’m a Swede and consider filing in Stockholm, however I don’t live there, not sure if that’s an issue.

you can only apply using the eVisa system if you're in your own country or as the O/P are in a country that has no thai consulate

If you're already in S/E Asia you apply at a thai consulate in a nearby country in person

I'm from Estonia and we don't have an embassy here

Approved everywhere but not in Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam etc.... A bit weird 🤔
Remus ******
@Rob ********
I think there was somebody who posted yesterday that he had it approved in Cambodia
Rob *********
@Remus *****
Online? I don't think Thai DTv visa can get in Cambodia using the online visa service.
Remus ******
@Rob ********
Not online, but in person. Why do you insist of getting it online? Also, I have heard that in order to get the eVisa, you need to be in that country when applying. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Rob *********
@Remus *****
I insist because my question is about to get it online not in person.

@Rob ********
what do you mean by this comment? I thought I'd seen some posts about approval in Laos?
James ********
@John *********
correct ✅
Rob *********
@John *********
And careful because mine was denied , and I had all the requirements, is not that easy, in my case it was because my money statement is from a broker, more people had the same issue.
Celeste **********
@Rob ********
when you say money statement is from a broker, do you mean your bank account statement or referring to your work? Thanks
Rob *********
@John *********
I am in Penang because I was not able to do it online, same in Vietnam, Laos not sure.
Tod *********
@Rob ********
you're not able to apply ONLINE outside of your country.

If you're already in S/E Asia you go to a consulate and apply in person
Rob *********
@Tod ********
I know that, I only can apply in the UK if I am there, but I also can apply in Hong Kong if I travel to HK, but cannot in Vietnam or Malasia, i have to go to the embassy in person, that's what I meant.
Tod *********
@Rob ********
correct (y) Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lao and Vietnam are NOT on the eVisa online system, those are walk up consulates
Angelica **************
Great, thanks for the Info!!

Thank You for your successful report on getting the DVT visa from the Thai Embassy in Helsinki.

IF it's an Evisa online application, be sure to print out several copies of the email to use with your airline and Thai Immigration Officers when asked to see your Thai Visa.

@James *******
I’ve really tried to do research on this one but I don’t quite get it. If I understand correctly, you can apply either via a consulate or directly with the Thai evisa webpage? If the first alternative, do I choose any consulate which is the nearest to my location? I am currently temporarily in Malaysia for a few weeks, but this is only my temporary spot. I’m a European Union citizen
James ********
@Daniel ************
look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate website in the country or location where you are going to be applying for the DVT visa. MANY are now using the Evisa online application system. While others are still in person application.

And EU citizen does not 🆔 your passport nation.

Look at the recent post about getting the DVT visa from the Thai Embassy in Malaysia.
James ********
And please Ask your question about getting the DVT in your own post. Not on this one. Thank You 👍
