Mark Zuckerberg might get this to occasionally visit Thailand. Wait.. He'd probably get in on a 30 transit visa, do online work anyway, and leave. 😂
Kevin ********
Always remember here money talks, bullshit walks,
Stéfan ********
This visa isn’t designed for digital nomads.
George *******
For STV. Do you need a permanent address
Vahid *********
Just get a special tourist visa and stay up to 9 months a year. If you're nomad then you'll be bored by then anyway
James *****
@Vahid ********
how to stay past 90 days?
Vahid *********
@James ****
it can be extended twice 90 days each time. Google STV.

Right on point !!! 👍🏼👍🏼

So many requirements that must be met...you have to think, do they really want you in!! The government is certainly doing their best to deter tourists at the moment. Cannot understand why anyone would want to pay the fees required in the first place! I could afford to buy an elite visa, however, being from Aberdeen I choose to stick with the 1 year visa!
Wayne ********
you don’t need pay anything according to my mates who do same

If you're a digital nomad, why need a special visa? You do 3 months here, three month there and some other three month somewhere else. A nomad travels and doesn't settle ☝️
Ruth *******
@Оливер ********
one can be a nomad within one country for a year or more, especially given the current climate where international travel is more challenging. Of course, Thailand is not the easiest place to be nomadic.

If you’re in country might want to consider a visit to the special visa office in BKK. Very helpful staff.

@Maz *******
And what's the "special visa office in BKK"?
Chris ****
@Benjamin *****
for entrepreneurs. Next to regular immigration office and they cross talk.
Benjamin ******
@Maz *******
Is that at Changwattana? Or is that at Chumchuri Square?

Is the requirement good enough to bring in digital nomads?

How the gonna check the truth about the income reports?
Bobby ********
@Pelle ************
. I would guess that income reports would have to be certified by your embassy. Thai authorities are well aware of fake documents, hence their stipulation that everything be verified by a "higher authority"
Chris ****
@Pelle ************
income verification typically with bank statements that details who is making the regular deposits. So always a good idea to start early on developing an account with steady income. I have one account that just shows income from my business without Netflix subscriptions on there : )
Mikaela ******
@Maz *******
So would this nomad visa be available for enterpreneurs who can show that amount of income...or must be employed and just doing the work remotely?

Getting confused with the meaning of nomad these days. 😅

@Pelle ************
from my understanding by your income tax filings, and there are some other pretty heavy requirements. It is not geared for freelancers, as you are supposed to be verifiably working for a company, and, have a certain amount of assets. From what I've seen, either US$50,000, or US$100,000 in assets. Nothing has been published in the Royal Gazette yet, but it will not be for people calling themselves digital nomads, without a formal job, and significant regular income, and all verifiable.

We don't know because it's a proposal 😮

IRS in my country will not leave out information to a third party about me.

How will they check truth about the papers?
Benjamin ******
@Pelle ************
Who knows. There's a couple of ways:

1. Requiring foreigners to file taxes, and pay taxes on the $40K USD

2. Requiring foreigners to submit letters from their embassies/ consulates saying they are making that amount of money.

Who knows, it's some guy's fantasy (TAT? Elite? BOI?) in the Thai government.

@Benjamin *****
I printed my diploma - didn't seem to be an issue. I could print my IRS documents. I pretty much meet the requirements.. But it is far too much of a hassle. I freaking hate the Tax system in the US. I couldn't imagine the tax system in any better. Why would I want to double my tax headache (yes you only have to pay in one country, but you will still have to file in both countries).
