Hi, my dear community,

Got a 5-year DTV visa for Thailand (digital nomad/freelancer). Applied in Penang after trying in Kuala Lumpur. Penang had more knowledgeable people who knew about freelancing.

Good luck, everyone! You deserve it, and you're an asset to any country's economy if you go there.

In my case, as stated in the requirements for Malaysia, I was asked about my address in Thailand. I had a 1-year contract

First of all, it depends on the category you're applying for. Remote worker and freelancer are different. I can help with information about freelancing because I applied under that category.

Thanks, but I am remote worker. Since I have all these documents without authenticated, that's why I asked

In KL they ask for the documents being stamped by the embassy of where my company is located. In my case its a US LLC and i would need my docs being stamped by the US embassy. Is it the same in Penang?

It's easy to go from KL to Penang by bus. Here are the apps. In Penang, it's walk-in, so try to have all documents printed. If you have more questions or need more suggestions, feel free to DM me. No worries, I’m not an a-gent or charging for information.

You can try, but I can't say exactly because in my case, I am a freelancer. In KL, they asked for some documents that, for example, weren't required in Penang. In KL, they didn’t ask about a long-term address, but in Penang, they did, so I showed my 1-year contract.

Are you applying for that visa or do you already have it? Or are you an agent, or just collecting information? If you introduce yourself properly, it might be easier to answer your questions.

It's perfectly easy to answer questions from someone who simply wants to know.

If I was an agent, I wouldn't be crawling on these pages. Agents have their own connections.

In my opinion, they are also looking at turnover. In my bank statement, it's clearly visible: the income during that period, the outcome during that period, and the ending balance.

So you didn't have 500K consistently parked in your account for 3 months?

They want to see if you have money that can be used and not just funds set aside for the visa. Basic requirements: a monthly (3months in Malaysia) bank statement with an ending balance of 500,000 THB or the equivalent in another currency.

Yes but 500K is all you need. You need to set aside those funds for the visa. Otherwise, what you are saying is that Penang is looking for those with say 700K, of which 200K is to be spent.

I would think any statement showing an end balance of 500K but with regular transactions is enough.

I was also under the impression that Malaysia required 500K to be parked there for a period of time, and not just recently deposited (which is similar to Laos).

In any case, I won't be going to Malaysia to apply. They seem to be the strictest. Laos is fine, but they're looking for funds to be parked for 3 months.

What I'm saying is to have an active account if you or someone is planning to apply in Malaysia. If not, you can try other countries.
