Good morning, my husband and I are South African grandparents. We are visiting my daughter and her family in Bangkok. Can someone please advise or explain how the 60 day parent visa works or which visa will allow us to stay longer. We are currently on a visa exempt entry and have extended our stay already for another 30 days.

Just want to give an update - it was regarding my Non-O extension of stay for being parent to Thai children and the required THB 400K in the bank - while the list of requirements/police order does not mention any "seasoning" period, the CW immigration office do require a period of minimum 30 days the fund have to be in the account prior to the application (and additionally, as before, to keep the amount there until date on "waiting for consideration" stamp).

Spoke to multiple IOs about this and even the head dude (the only male IO staff in the cubicle and he sits in the corner part of the L section) he explain how this have been the norm in CW.

I sort of came prepared anyway since I got a backup account whose balance just happen to cover the 30 days period.

Sharing it here, just in case some folks might have read some of the previous post saying no seasoning is required and proceed.

Hello all. I’m hoping to find some information regarding my Parents coming to visit Thailand from the U.K please. They’re both in their 70s and were all set to come here earlier this year in March so very disappointed as we haven’t seen each other for a very long time and were looking forward to a reunion; unfortunately my Mum became unwell (not Covid related) and their trip was cancelled, then Covid hit and they couldn’t travel at-all. I’m wondering if they would fall into the Parent category when limited travel is allowed again as I’m Married to a Thai National?

Any glimmer of hope for our reunion would be nice to hear. TIA. ☺️

I'm confused about this amnesty thing regarding one-year visa extensions. Do people on marriage/retirement extensions etc not have to renew them until after July or whenever the new amnesty is? In my situation, I am on a visa extension for having Thai kids, which ends in September. I am waiting for my name to appear in the Royal Gazette, granting me Thai citizenship but this could take a couple or 3 months. I really don't want to have to get another extension, which means showing money in the bank, although only for a day.

From a reliable agent I personally know in Pattaya.

Looks as if Jomtien Immigration have been pulled in to line on who now needs to report using the TM30. Before, anybody on an extension never had to report again unless they had changed their address

IMMIGRATION UPDATE TO TM30 REPORT IN PATTAYA:

New rule from Immigration. Any Persons coming into PATTAYA on any form of visa, Tourist (hotel or condo must register) or Non O, Retirement, Parent, Marriage, or ED visa must report to Immigration for TM30 Check every time they re-enter Thailand.

This also affects anyone with a multiple entry visas. They must also do a TM30 Check every time they re-enter even if their address is the same as the last time of reporting.

Hi Todd. You gave me great advice before and I thank you.

I have a new situation that needs a clear solution

Currently I am on a no O retirement visa. Due to a change in my finacial situation I will not be able to keep a bank balance of 800000 for the equired period of time.

However, I am a single dad of a 16 year old Thai son.

I want to change to a parent visa to reduce the financial requiement to 400000.

I have a UK state pension that equates to about 25000 per month and the transfers show in my Thai bank for at leas 2 years.

This equates to about 290000 per annum.

I also have a continuing current account balance which if combined with the pension is more than the 400000 requirement.

Is this ok?

What do I need to do?

My old addled brain needs some help as I get conflicting advice.

Many thanks.

Hi,

We are moving over this year and I want to learn Thai so that I can help my daughter learn it, speak to her friends parents and hopefully be accepted more by the locals. I can only find courses that are 20 hours. That’s not going to be enough for me to learn it well enough I don’t think. Also as far as the visa. How will I be able to stay for year (my daughter will be schooled so I need the year) if the course is only 20 hours? TIA
