Hi there, thanks for letting me join the group! I have an important question about VISAs.

Which is the best way (if there is any) to get a 1 year VISA for a whole family? (dad, mum and a little daugther 5 years old). That means not having to re-enter the border and means being there for a year WITHOUT working ... Thanks a lot !!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question asks for the best way to obtain a one-year visa for a family (parents and a 5-year-old daughter) in Thailand without the need for re-entering the country or working. Several options are discussed in the comments, including the Non-Immigrant O-A visa for parents over 50, which allows for a one-year stay with dependents eligible for a Non-Immigrant O visa, as well as Multi-Entry Tourist Visas that can provide up to 9 months of stay with planned border runs. Additionally, the Thai Elite Visa is mentioned as a more expensive option for long-term residence. Concerns about booking air tickets before the visa approval are also raised.

what about getting the air tickets? you have to do that previous to ask for the VISA, what about if you dont get the VISA, then you lose the money of your air tickets ... or it is assumed that you will get the VISA 99.9%?

I knew about Elite VISA, but not a rich folk unfortunately to be able to afford that price ...

You can get Multi-Entry Tourist Visas giving up to 9 months if used correctly

Or get a Multiple Entry tourist Visa in your home country, good for 6 months but have to do border runs, if good planned you can get 270 days out of it.

not bad

you get 60 days which can be extended with 30 days at local immigration. If you leave and re-enter on the Enter Before Date on the Visa you will get another 60 days and Extension. This makes it 270 days inside the country.

how long been inside till you have to re-enter?
Robert *******
Than the only option is the Thai Elite Visa:

Still some more years to come for reaching 50 ... :)

Unless you are age 50 or more - your exact plan for one year is not possible... Unless you buy the Elite Card for 500,000 Baht and get dependent Visas for the family

If mom or dad are over 50 years of age he/she can apply for the Non Immigrant O-A visa which will give 1 year of stay. Partner and daugther can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa Single Entry as dependent on the partner with O-A visa. They will get 90 days on entry and after 60 days visit local Immigration to apply for an Extension of Stay for both of them as dependent.

What do you plan on doing here?

Lets say kind of sabbatical year ... but I can take profit of it for improving my English, get massage lessons, etc ,etc or even trying to find a job there if it is possible. And obviously travel around the country as I have done in the past ...
