TLDR : Answer Summary
You do not need a marriage certificate to obtain a Non-Immigrant Category O Visa for a parent of a child. Instead, most Thai consulates require a birth certificate with your name on it, along with documents proving your legal parental rights.

My advice would be to download the checklist

and supply everything they require for a single entry non-O based on supporting a child. If you have those documents, I believe you should be issued a single entry non-O visa based on supporting or visiting a half-Thai child.

Most Thai Consulates ask for the birth certificate with your name on it, Thai Immigration want you to have legal parental rights.
